Only absolutely irreproachable raw materials are used in HARIBO products. The composition is no secret: HARIBO gel jellies are made from a mixture of glucose syrup (which makes them transparent), sugar and dextrose (which makes them sweet) and gelatin (which gives them their consistency Of "gum"). To this are added concentrates of fruits and plants, flavors, starch and a little citric acid.
Gelatin - the alternative to gum arabic
The gels consist of a mixture of glucose syrup, sugar and gelling agent such as, for example, gelatin or starch. Then other ingredients such as fruit and plant concentrates, flavorings, starch and a little citric acid are added.
For over 90 years, HARIBO has been making gel jellies. So many years that have brought to the company a great experience in the field, and in particular the control of each gelling agent (gelatin, starch, agar agar etc.) to obtain a consistency proper to each product. Many fans of HARIBO particularly appreciate - for generations - the consistency of our sweets containing gelatin; And they do not want to see it changed. Nevertheless, the company is aware that products containing gelatin are not suitable for everyone. For this reason, HARIBO has also been offering, for many years, other gels consisting of starch, agar or gellan and which do not contain any ingredients of animal origin.
